About Me.
Born a refugee and arriving in the United States in 1992, I’ve never forgotten where I came from or the resilience my journey has instilled in me. With little direction, I joined the Air Force in pursuit of free college, and during my service, I played a role in critical missions, including Hurricane Katrina relief, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Japan’s tsunami response. These experiences taught me the importance of perseverance, adaptability, and a relentless drive to grow. That same determination has carried me throughout my career and life.
While working full-time as a server at Red Lobster, I put myself through college, driven by a passion to create a better future. My first break into tech came at Barracuda Networks, though it wasn’t easy. I failed the interview three times, each time taking the feedback to improve, and on my fourth attempt, I landed the role of Firewall Engineer. Within a year, I immersed myself in learning everything about firewalls, routers, switches, ISPs, LAN, and WAN, which helped me transition into my first network engineering role. There, under the guidance of an incredible mentor, I led a network infrastructure migration, upgrading legacy hardware to modern systems.
This knowledge fueled my next big leap to a gaming startup, where I migrated the company’s network infrastructure from scratch, scaling it from 43 employees to 150. I designed and built the network entirely, even terminating cables myself. When the company was later acquired by Netflix, I led another major network integration into their enterprise ecosystem, gaining invaluable experience in working at a truly global scale.
Through every obstacle and opportunity, I’ve remained focused on growth, comparing my current self to my past self to ensure I’m always evolving. Whether in life or work, I embrace challenges as stepping stones, using them to propel me forward. My journey—from a refugee camp to serving in the Air Force, from waiting tables to leading network transformations—reminds me of the strength in perseverance and the power of believing in what’s possible.
